Originally made for the Georgian Princess Abamalek Lazarev, who left it to her nephew, Prince Paul of Yugoslavia. His wife, Princess Olga, wore it frequently. After her death the tiara went to her oldest son, Prince Alexander, so that his second wife, Princess Barbara could wear it. " From end to end, this stunning bridal crown / tiara measures 16". The decorated portion measures 9 inches leaving approximately 3 inches or so of plain band showing on each side. See side view photo. This royal tiara measures 2" in height at the center. It is rhodium-plated and will never tarnish. Heirloom quality, really. Interesting little factoid: The original tiara (shown below) has a gold velvet padded roll attached to the inside of the band. The original tiaras were very heavy with diamonds and would have been uncomfortable to wear had it not been for the padding.   |
